Andrew Lockwood

Andrew Lockwood

The Strategist

When Andrew’s father Brian came home with a Tony Kart in 1990, a brief but eventful career in karting began. Andrew was lucky enough to be involved with some incredible people, the Ritter’s in particular, who shared their knowledge and guidance throughout a partnership formed by Brian and Graham. Andrew’s standout memory was his first National Title at Bolivar, S.A in 1994. He won a heat by more than a straight length but later seized his engine and placed 4th overall for the day. He had no idea this would be his last race! Andrew is extremely grateful for those years and believes karting is the purest form of motorsport there is. He is happy to be part of Spyder Racing 20+ years on.

Tom Jacobson

Tom Jacobson

The Driver

Tom started in karts at indoor venues for fun. This quickly became not so much fun for his friends as he had made a habit of winning! He has become very capable despite his lack of experience apart from the indoor hire kart centres! When Billy got his first Kart in 2013 Tom has joined us on days in the fleet, showing very good style and speed! He is also very competitive! Nowadays, he has limited time to race because he is busy with his restaurant Changz Canteen in Melbourne which is a great success and one of Spyder Racing partners!

WHO MADE SPYDER RACING HAPPEN!

The Spyder Racing team is made by 4 enthusiasts: Mike, Billy and Tom Jacobson and Andrew Lockwood. They are committed to make Spyder Racing a source of enjoyment and a lifestyle.

automotiveThe team evolved after talking with Andrew about all of us being able to have some fun together, and supporting Billy in his Karting. The fusion of the experiences makes Spyder Racing special and good for everyone involved!

The history starts with Mike and Andrew racing karts about 20 or 25 years ago, both were talking and thought getting back into Karts would be fun. Then of course during 2013 Billy got his and Tom started as well, very soon the fun became far more serious.

As time has gone by, Billy has become the focus at Spyder Racing, he has been consistently placing on the podium, and winning on occasions. 2016 will see him in a ex team Haase Australia chassis! He is looking for a very competitive year!
